Gina Lengyel, PT

ginaGina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Lethbridge (2000) and another in physiotherapy from the University of Alberta (2005). Gina’s extensive post-graduate training in both manual and McKenzie based treatment techniques give her a unique skill set. Gina focuses on sports therapy and postural and repetitive strain injuries. Her treatments include spinal mobilization, spinal stabilization (CORE) exercise, neural tissue mobilization, postural taping and myofascial release. Gina is also qualified to practice acupuncture and uses this, combined with a dry-needling technique (IMS), for patients with chronic pain and long standing muscoskeletal problems.

In her off time Gina is an avid athlete who runs recreationally, weight trains, plays beach volleyball and has recently taken up cycling. Gina is highly disciplined and knows that consistent work and dedication are key to success. She also values life-long learning and continues to further her own education by taking advanced physiotherapy courses. Gina is friendly, enthusiastic, detail oriented and professional. Top 10 questions for Gina:

1. What are your interests outside of work? I love make up and fashion. I have worked with top fitness models and have recently been published in Impact magazine and PVL supplement ads.

2. What sports did/do you play competitively? I played competitive basketball throughout school. In university I got into training for fitness competitions, along the way I learned what the word discipline really means and came away with greater knowledge on conditioning and nutrition. Now I run recreationally, still weight train and play beach volley ball in the summer.

3. If you could go pro in any sport what would it be? I would play beach volley ball.

4. What music do you listen to? Indie rock mostly, but you will find anything and everything on my iPod.

5. What are your favorite books to read? Biographies/Autobiographies.

6. What is your favorite quote? “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.”

7. Who was your childhood hero? Olivia Newton John. I am serious, every time I went the hair dresser in town (I grew up in a really small town) I always asked to look like her. Oh the perms!!

8. What is one technology that you couldn’t live without? I would be lost without my computer. I Google everything.

9. What is your perfect adventure? I would love to travel to beautiful beaches and learn to surf.

10. What is your favorite thing about your career? The people I have met and had the opportunity to work on. I have worked on both professional and amateur athletes and loved both experiences. I appreciate just the everyday connections that you make with people and to know that you could possibly have an influence on them in some way…it’s pretty cool.
